Job Description of Database Architect

• Assist setting up the Virtual Infrastructure VMWare (Dev, UAT, Production and Reporting environments), to be the most advantageous design to warehouse and retrieve marketing analytics.
• Based upon specifications provided by the Business Development and Marketing Teams, design, develop, test and tune SQL Server 2008 CRM database(s).
• Create the CRM database(s), to enable the Marketing Team to zero in on targeted marketing opportunities, increasing business value and profitability, both for the Client and our company.
• Understand and document the existing structure of the Production database.
• Create Logical & Physical Data modeling and data architecture designs.
• Properly estimate table sizes and record sizes and allocation for growth.
• Migrate existing Production data, new data requirements and reporting requirements into the new Marketing database.
• Create and manage all database documentation, based upon specifications provided by the Business and/or Marketing Team.
• Assist the Development team with any Database needs and provide direct database support to internal customers.
• Design and create Database Objects, such as Tables, Stored Procedures, Views, Triggers, user defined data types and functions.
• Perform query optimization & performance tuning. using SQL Execution Plan, Performance Monitor and other DB tools.
• Institute database standards and naming convention for the database objects.
• Create Database backup and disaster recovery procedures.
• Create and manage user roles and assigning necessary permissions.
• Create automation of maintenance jobs, Day-to-day maintenance activities such as running DBCC, Transaction Logs, File growths etc.
• Implement all high availability techniques like log shipping, replication.
• Coordinate with the I.T. Manager and Business Stakeholders, system downtimes and deployment of latest database releases across all environments. (Dev, UAT, Prod)
• Solve critical production issues, such as table deadlocks and blocking
• Create backup recovery schedules/backup scripts.
• Creating and maintain SSRS reports and SSIS packages.
• Ensures projects are delivered on time and within budget.
• Keeps the I.T. Manager apprised of project status, especially projects in potential jeopardy.
